to 1978 |
First
fulltime job as a packager then a machine operator in a caramel candy factory.
Learned pipe threading during the off seasons to fix the water and steam
pipes used to cook the caramel. Still like chocolate caramel but don't know
if I want anymore plain caramel ever again. |

| 1978 to 1979 |
Started as a cart
mule at the pottery division of this company, manually pulling greenware
pottery to the kilns and empty carts back. Moved to the wood division as
shipping clerk and was OSHA certified on the fork lift. Was moved to the
woodworking section to operate machinery. Experienced with routers, table
saws, band saws, rough cut saws, double head planers and their setup. |

| 1979
to 1981 |
Machine mechanic
at small cigar factory. Maintaining and setting up cellophane wrapping machines
for cigar packs and boxes. |

| 1981 |
Short time as flower
delivery person for a florist and as a photo-unit operator at a book layout
company. Opaqued a lot of negatives. |

| 1981
to 1986 |
Worked on the state
road crew fixing pot holes, installing guard rail and doing road maitenance.
Was certified on frontend loader, dump truck and 5 ton roller. Got big muscles
and a tan. |

| 1986
to 1989 |
Trained emotionally
and mentally challenged clients janitorial skills while maintaining the
building plus doing computer support. Staff was usually mentally challenged
as well when it came to the computers - had to restore the C:> drive
a few times after they formatted it by mistake. |

| 1989
to 1993 |
First real computer
job. Was the computer service guy, then the service manager with staff,
then part owner. Took all the necessary Novell classes for certification
but never had the chance to take the tests. Learned about closely held companies
and business partners with addiction issues. |

| 1993
to 2000 |
IT Manager at an
accounting firm training staff, running, maintaining, installing hardware,
software and networks. Lot of Novell and Windows. Being one computer guy
amongst 30+ accountants is like walking around in a herd of cows -- need
to listen to them all day, they can't understand what you're talking about
and still have to deal with the cow patties. |

| 1993 to Present |
For some reason
I started my own computer company. Fixing, consulting and selling computer
stuff. I'm glad I have a good sense of humor... |
